Earth Laughs In Flowers (36” x 18”) is the newest piece in Conversing With The Dead. Working from Holly’s repeated rows and heavy textures, I created a fabric collage over much of it, then started painting into that.
The title is from this section of Emerson’s Hamatreya:

Earth laughs in flowers, to see her boastful boys Earth-proud, proud of the earth which is not theirs; Who steer the plough but cannot steer their feet Clear of the grave.

November 2019: Nightfall

Nightfall is the fifth canvas in Conversing With The Dead, and will be the last of the 12” squares. The next in the series is considerably larger.
